TUCSON-Local high school students worked side-by-side with members of the Tucson Police Department to help clean a midtown neighborhood on Saturday morning.
"Everybody working together makes a difference," said Officer Sonja Hudson of the Tucson Police Department. "The more the merrier."
The area on Tyndall near Fort Lowell has been littered with trash, drug paraphernalia and overgrown plants.
Hudson said the area has struggled with crime, trespassing and drug activity.
Around 80 people worked to clear the field.
Volunteers said when they arrived it looked like a landfill.
"We found a lot of random stuff," said Gary Priest, a resident of the neighborhood.
"The cleaner it is, the safer it is for people," said Priest.
