TUCSON - Target shoppers are trying to figure out what to do, fearing their credit or debit card information might be stolen.
People who shopped in-store between November 27 and December 15 might become victims.
Skyla Teel said her bank contacted her about $900 in charges. She was using her Great Western Bank Visa debit card at the Target in Casa Grande.
"Nine hundred dollars out of our account right around Christmas would have been a definite inconvenience," Teel said, "to say the least."
One of the purchases was for a new iPad on newegg.com, according to Teel. She said she was able to stop the order before it shipped and got the money back.
"I don't know how I would get by without a debit card," Teel said. "I want to pretend like I would stop using it, but I won't. And I'm probably going to shop at Target again."
Marlene Skinner has a Target store credit card that can be used anywhere. She wanted to close her account as a precaution. She said she spent hours on the phone without talking to a person.
"I am rather upset," Skinner said. "I've been a customer of Target probably for 30 years. And I was a little bit upset with how they are not making service reps available."
She eventually made it to an automated system where she reported her card lost or stolen.
"I really had to, yeah," she said. "There was no way to close my account on this phone call."
The phone number on her card and statement only gave a busy signal. She said she was eventually successful when she called 1-866-852-8680.
Target is offering a 10-percent discount at stores this Saturday and Sunday.
