Taking steps to promote literacy

TUCSON - A local group is promoting literacy in Southern Arizona and beyond.

The Greater Tucson Leadership Class of 2013 kicked off its "Lead to Read- 100 Miles For Literacy" relay.

The 24-hour team relay started Friday night at Tucson Medical Center and looped through the University of Arizona mall.

The walk raised awareness and funds for Literacy Connect.

The effort was created to support Mayor Rothschild's initiatives focusing on literacy and exercise.
