TUCSON - According to the Internal Revenue Service, 25% of Americans wait until the last two weeks in April to start preparing their taxes. While everyone got 2 extra days this year, many are still racing against time.

At Pio Decimo, one look sy the lobby reminded you that today was tax day. All the chairs were full of people waiting to get their free tax preparation help.

One of the ladies said she's very behind.

"I still have to do 2010 and 2011 taxes. I'm a real procrastinator."

While another woman said it's just a lack of time.

"I have 2 jobs 7 days a week, so there was no other time."

No matter what your reason for waiting is, you're definitely not alone.

To help, the H&R Block on Oracle Road opened it's doors at 2 a.m. United Way and Pio Decimo are keeping their doors open later than usual as well.

Liz Thorey, from Pio Decimo, says they're dedicated to helping everyone they can.

"We'll be here until midnight or until the last person is served."

So if you're heading out tonight, here are a few tips.

First, make sure to bring all your documentation.

David Tinney, from H&R Block, says preparation is key.

"Go ahead and add up all your medical expenses. Don't bring in a whole bunch of receipts. Try to add them up--same thing with the charitables."

Second, keep in mind that you still have to pay money even if you're filing an extension.

"What you need to do is pay at least 90% of what you think you owe by today."

Third, if you're putting your taxes in the mail, check the date.

"You don't want to just drop it in any mail box. You want to put it in a mailbox---like at a post office---where it will get post marked today."

Lastly, even if you can't pay everything today, you should at least file. You may still owe penalty fee's, but they will be less than if you don't file at all.
