OCEAN CITY, N.J. (AP) - The Coast Guard and other emergency crews are searching for a 14-year-old boy who was swept out to sea by an undercurrent while swimming with friends off Ocean City.
The boy was reported missing shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday after everyone except the teen made it back to shore. A 25-foot Coast Guard boat, a Coast Guard helicopter and crews from the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit and the Ocean City Fire Department still were searching for the boy early Monday.
WCAU-TV reports (bit.ly/VyQ6YL) that the Ocean City Beach Patrol has recovered six to eight people who were swimming with the teen near the 9th Street Beach when they ran into a rip current.
