TUCSON - Tuesday night, Sun Tran officials and representatives from Teamsters Local 104 announced a tentative agreement on a new contract. Both sides agreed to extend the current contract until midnight Thursday, August 2, 2012, to allow the members the chance to vote on the final contract proposal.
Buses will run as scheduled through the contract extension date. The current contract was to expire at midnight tonight.
Sun Tran General Manager Kate Riley and Teamsters Secretary-Treasurer Andy Marshall are hopeful that the union membership will vote to ratify the new contract. Both parties expressed appreciation for Sun Tran customers' and employees' patience until the union members have the opportunity to vote on the offer.
The public can expect business as usual through August 2nd.
