TUCSON - Sun Tran bus services will operate normally Friday, after Sun Tran and Teamsters Local #104 representatives agreed on a new two year contract.
A tentative agreement was reached on Tuesday, but the previous contract was extended through midnight Thursday to give 497 union members an opportunity to vote on the new deal. It was approved with a final tally of 212 to 69.
Sun Tran agreed to a $773,000 package per the two year contract, which officially took affect August 1.
The money will go toward raising the pay of top drivers and mechanics, with contribution to monthly health and welfare premiums. Hourly pay to the Teamster pension fund will increase $.05.
A wage reopener clause was also added, which allows the agreement to be revisited by either party for the second year of the contract.
For specific bus schedules visit Sun Tran's website at www.suntran.com, or call their customer service center at 520-792-9222.
