Sub sandwich chain donates over $20k to local fire district

TUCSON - After donating more than $23,800 in equipment to the Northwest Fire District, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation will be having a ceremony today, October 29, 2012, to award the recipients.

The ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Firehouse Subs restaurant in Tucson located at 3844 W. River Road.

According to a news release, the new equipment will be going to the new tactical simulation lab in order to train emergency response personal. There has been a need for the equipment, but not enough money in the budget due to constraints.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation started in 2005 and since then, has donated over $80,800 to first responders and public safety organizations in Arizona. Fire House Subs has donated over $5.2 million to fire and police departments as well as EMS organizations around the nation, as stated in a news release.

Throughout October, people can purchase a $1 or $5 medallion to help raise funds for the FSPSF.
