TUCSON - High winds and rain chances for Southern Arizona to start weekend.
A powerful spring storm system will move through the state today bringing isolated showers and strong gusty winds.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for Southeast Arizona including the Tucson metro between 11am and 7pm where gusts can reach 40mph.
Gusts to 50mph are possible for Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties where a High Wind Warning is in effect from 11am to 4pm.
Along with a strong westerly crosswind, blowing dust will make for difficult driving conditions.
Low relative humidity will combine with the high winds for extreme fire danger near the Arizona-New Mexico border. Any fires that do develop will likely see rapid and erratic growth.
Temperatures will go from the low 90s yesterday to the mid 70s this afternoon. Sunday will see lighter winds and a cool morning low in the upper 40s before once again topping out about 10-15 degrees below normal for late April.
Warmer temperatures expected as you head back to work this week. Stay up to date with your True View 4 extended forecast here.
