Strong winds bring cooler temps

TUCSON - Winds pick up to round out the weekend.

A storm system moving though the Four Corners region will bring gusty winds and cooler temperatures to Southern Arizona this afternoon. Tucson will see sustained winds out of the west between 20-30mph with gusts over 35mph.

Stronger winds are expected east of the metro where gusts will be between 40-50mph. Parts of Graham, Greenlee and Cochise Counties are under a Wind Advisory from 10am to 7pm this evening. Watch for blowing dust and strong crosswinds along the roads today.

The strong winds combine for high fire danger across the region with a Red Flag Warning also in effect today. Any fires that do develop will see rapid and erratic growth.

Highs will be in the low to mid 80s through Monday in the wake of this system before a big warm up takes off. High pressure builds in for the second half of this workweek driving temperatures to near triple digit levels for the first time this year.
