TUCSON - Three straight days of record high temperatures possible beginning this afternoon.
A strong ridge of high pressure will center itself over the southwest this weekend bringing temperatures we would normally see in early May. The peak of the heat will hit today with a forecast high of 88 breaking the previous record of 85 that has been standing since 1957.
The record highs for both Sunday and Monday are 85 (1994) and 83 (2004) respectively. The forecast calls for temperatures to at least match those numbers bringing three straight days of record breaking or record tying temperatures.
A pattern change is expected by late next week as a low pressure trough digs into the west coast. It looks like temperatures will drop back into the low 70s during this time period but still no precipitation in the forecast.
