TUCSON - Athletes spend their lives putting incredible stress on their muscles and joints. But they seem able to withstand the continued abuse, and keep competing. How is this possible?
Today on News 4 at 4:00, Dr. George Bradbury from the Center for Joint Replacement at Carondelet's St. Joseph's Hospital, talked about how these athletes manage to avoid injury.
Dr. Bradbury talked about how athletes make sure they have enough down time between competitions, they stretch out their muscles before and after an event, and if they do suffer an injury, they get it treated right away.
There are also exercises they do to help prevent complications from rigorous training.
