TUCSON - A storm passed through Tucson early this afternoon, mostly impacting the south and southeast side of Tucson. Between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tucson Fire units responded to nine calls for wires down, two calls for arcing wires, and two calls for small fire related issues such as brush fires.
Tucson Fire also received three calls for fire alarms, one reported swift water rescue call and one call for multiple power poles down on East Valencia Road near South Park Ave.
The major concern with wires down is protecting the area until TEP can respond to stabilize the situation.
When TFD units responded to the scene on East Valencia Road near Park Ave they found five or six power poles had fallen near three vehicles, trapping the occupants inside. TEP was able to confirm the power was secured and the vehicles were escorted out of the hazard zone to safety.
No one was injured by the downed lines.
