Storm chances slowly on the increase

TUCSON - Storms more miss than hit again for the Old Pueblo today.

High pressure south of Denver continues to pump in plenty of Monsoon moisture, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. However, the atmosphere is lacking a mechanism to develop organized storm activity. Expect storms to be of the isolated nature this afternoon and evening across the metro.

The best chance of scattered storms today will be south and east of Tucson.

Storm chances increase this weekend, courtesy of an inverted trough moving in from south Texas. This mechanism should lead to scattered storms across Tucson and southern Arizona Saturday and Sunday. Flash flooding is the primary threat with storms heading into the weekend.
