PHOENIX (AP) - A ring worth nearly $11,000 is back on a woman's hand more than two years after it was stolen from her Phoenix-area home.
Marilyn Myers of Surprise says she bought the custom-made $10,750 ring from savings from her 30-year teaching career. She reported it missing in December 2007 after a law-firm employee came
to her home on a business call.
Surprise officer Robert Shaw took information about the employee, Scott Herndon, and began pursuing leads. Eventually the 45-year-old Herndon was considered a suspect. And with the help of California authorities, Shaw says he got a search warrant for Herndon's home in Lake Forest, Calif., and found the ring.
Officials say Herndon was charged in Maricopa County with one county of felony theft. Shaw returned the ring to Myers last week and she's rarely taken it off since.
