PHOENIX - Frequent fliers who travel through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will be able to speed through security at one terminal starting Tuesday if they sign up for a new program.
The Transportation Security Administration expects thousands of people who sign up for its Pre-Check trusted traveler program to use a special expedited security lane at the airport's Terminal 4 daily.
Those in the program can skip some normal screening steps, like removing shoes and separating laptops and plastic bags filled with liquids.
The Arizona Republic reports only one of the four checkpoints at Terminal 4 will have the special lanes at first, but the TSA expects more will follow.
Participants must qualify as frequent fliers on selected airlines, pay a fee and undergo background checks to join the program.
