COOLIDGE, AZ - Here's a chance to check out a National Monument in Arizona---for free.
Join Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in honoring Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln with free admission for all visitors on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday as they host special events. "The holiday weekend provides the perfect opportunity to visit the Monument and contemplate the courage and innovation of great men in history," said Superintendent Karl Cordova.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, Ranger Al Watson from the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail, and William Islas from Presidio San Agustin Del Tucson will present talks, host special film showings, and have hands-on exhibits about the Anza Expedition from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Sunday, Feb. 16 and Monday, Feb. 17, Amos Hasken will demonstrate how to make arrows, along with other traditional Native American weapons, and decorative jewelry in the park's visitor center atrium. He will also have items for sale.
Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional information can be found on their website or by phone at (520) 723-3172.
