TUCSON- Easily seen from I-10 is Tucson Marketplace at the Bridges. Developer, Retail West sees huge potential.
"Our studies have shown, and it's proven to be true that I-10 is a connector that goes all the way out to Las Cruces. And it picks up Douglas, Benson and Willcox," said Eric Davis, owner of Retail West.
That kind of reach is important to retailers who will soon be joining the master planned community with KB Homes and the U of A Bioscience Park.
"When Costco opened they had more membership sign ups than any place in the country. It was proof positive. Their sales are ahead of projection, Wal-Mart sales are ahead of projection," said Davis.
McDonalds is already set to move in soon and other shops will eventually fill in the three buildings under construction. The land is also home to the future U of A Bioscience Park. No tenants are set there but they are hopeful.
The U of A tells News 4 that things are looking up as they are speaking with several potential tenants and will launch a major marketing campaign in the fall. They are hoping it won't be a tough sell given the success on the retail side.
"The buildings that you see here will be done in September, October, you'll see the tenant signage going up in September, October, certainly open by Thanksgiving, fifty percent leased and maybe more," said Davis.
This is just a small part of the overall vision for this 114 acre lot. Retail West says they are planning on more construction next summer.
