TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's Department has dispatched 15 to 20 units to Tucson's south side after they received reports of people firing a weapon out of the back seat of a car. Chaparral Middle School, located near Palo Verde Rd. and Drexel, is on lockdown at this time.
According to PCSD spokesperson Deputy Tom Peine, one person has been detained after deputies located the suspected car. Several other people fled on foot as the deputy approached them, and deputies are now searching the area.
The 911 call reporting shots fired came in just after 11 a.m., Dep. Peine said, and Chaparral Middle School was placed on lockdown at about 11:45 a.m.
