A San Diego man listed as a person of interest in the murder of his mother was found in the Tucson area.
According to San Diego county sheriff's detectives, 53-year-old Margo Jean Lucero was found dead yesterday afternoon in the upscale area of Valley Center and her Mercedes Sedan was missing.
Detectives say Margo, and her son David, reportedly got into arguments over a Native American shrine in their neighborhood.
Police said David was a person of interest in the case, and was recently found in southern Arizona. Officials say they believe, 25 years old David Jr. drove it here and then left it.
IT holds crucial evidence in the San Diego homicide. Inside of the vehicle, sage brush that was reportedly part of the shrine that was removed from the outside of the Lucero's home.
Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock a passer by spotted the 2006 Mercedes abandoned by the side of the road.
Sheriff's detectives say there was gas in the vehicle, but David Jr. was nowhere in sight.
Detective Dabb says "There was a search conducted by deputes on foot as well as using the sheriff's department airplane those turned up negative results."
Turns out, David Jr. was in custody. He was arrested by Tohono O'Odham police on trespassing charges, and gave a name of John Doe.
It wasn't until Wednesday, it was discovered David Leroy Lucero Jr, was John Doe.
San Diego county detectives are expected to come in Wednesday evening.
As for David Lucero Junior, we asked him for an interview and him corrections officers say he declined.
