TUCSON - Millions of Toyotas have been recalled and now some rental car companies in Tucson have decided to pull the cars from their lots.

Best Auto Rental, 998 S 6th Ave, is no longer renting Toyotas.

Mike Atyani, owner, says he has about 40 cars on his fleet. He only has a few Toyotas and they're not on the recall list but he says he's not taking any chances.

"I pulled them out just for the safety reason for my customers," Atyani said.

He says he will rent Toyotas in the future but says until he hears the full story he'd rather be safe than sorry.

Hertz car rental is also making changes. According to the company's website, they have temporarily stopped renting all of the recalled vehicles for safety reasons.

Mark P. Frissora, Hertz chairman and CEO says, "We are taking action so there can be no question about the safety of our customers and the cars we rent. We expect these actions will have minimal operational disruptions."

We also spoke with Enterprise Holdings. They own Enterprise, Alamo and National brands. The company says they're making repairs to the recalled vehicles, which is about 4 percent of their entire North American fleet. After repairs, those vehicles will go back to service.

Matt Darrah, executive vice president-North American Operations for Enterprise Holdings says, "Our top priority throughout this entire process has been safeguarding the safety and trust of our customers, and that remains our focus going forward."

Brian Lyons, Safety and Quality Communications Manager for Toyota says, "Toyota is working very closely to satisfy the needs of our fleet customers and applying the recall remedies to their vehicles as quickly and conveniently as possible."

Lyons also says there are many myths regarding these recalls. He says you can find a lot of information about the Myths vs. Facts on their website.
