TUCSON - Two soldiers have died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
One of them was from Tucson.
29-year-old Staff Sergeant Orion Sparks of Tucson, along with 28-year-old Sergeant Jonathan A. Gollnitz of Lakehurst, New Jersey, died Wednesday in Pul-E Alam.
An insurgent wearing a suicide vest detonated the device near their patrol.
The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Schweinfurt, Germany.
Air Force chaplain Major James Parrish led a prayer over a transfer case containing the remains of Sparks at Dover Air Force Base on Thursday.
