TUCSON - Many have taken to social media to give condolences and share memories of Dave Sitton.
On the News 4 Tucson Facebook page there's been an overwhelming expression of grief, and at the same time, heartfelt happy tributes.
Viewers shared their fondness of Sitton and his contribution to their lives.
The legendary UA sports broadcaster, the father who coached Arizona Rugby, the man who ran for congress.
Jack Young posted a photo with Sitton, the caption says, "He was a gentle person and I considered him my friend. I really liked him, and he passed way too young."
Mike Cicala wrote, "Growing up in Tucson and being a Wildcat fan my whole life, he was a part of my life. But that is only a small part of what Dave meant to this city."
Too young to go, but he made a difference in a lot of lives," said Eddie Vosberg, "I will miss him."
Many knew Sitton from television, others from community events. Some shared upbeat, personal memories.
Margie Wrye says, "Dave's contributions to Tucson and everyone he touched, the list would go on, for pages and pages. For me, I will always be thankful to Dave for introducing me to the extremely cool and manly sport of Rugby."
Amy Rice remembers, "Before I knew who he was, when he would announce basketball games, I always thought he was saying, "This is Dave, sitting along with Coach".
Mark Rendon says, "Dave is up there throwing dice, playing with house money and listening to the Beach Boys. Good bye to great teammate, coach, mentor and most of all friend."
Memories with Sitton are also being shared on Twitter.
Mike Feder, General Manager of the Tucson Padres tweets, "Very sad day with the passing of Dave Sitton, a tremendous person. We all need to live our life with the same zeal Dave did."
