One person dead from a single vehicle accident on Drexel, west of Midvale Park.
According to officials on the scene, the driver went through a blocked wall and into a wash. Drexel and Midvale is closed both ways and will be for the next few hours.
Here is the release from the Pima County Sherrif's Department:
This morning at approximately 5:10 a.m., deputies from the San Xavier District responded to the 3200 blk. of East Holladay Street in reference to a single vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, they found that a red Toyota passenger vehicle hit a brick wall. The driver (sole occupant) was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was identified as Luis Carlos Zapien Duran (DOB 12/13/91).
Pima County Sheriff's Traffic Unit investigators responded to the scene to further investigate. At this time, investigators have advised that the Toyota was traveling westbound on Holladay Street when it crossed to the south shoulder of the roadway and struck a brick wall.
Speed, alcohol, and drugs are possible factors in the collision. The investigation continues.
