Sierra Vista man arrested for endangerment after high speed chase

SIERRA VISTA - A Sierra Vista man is in the Cochise County jail on charges endangerment and fleeing from officers.

On Sunday, December 2nd, around 11:05 p.m., a Sierra Vista Police officer saw a red Ford Mustang travelling at a high rate of speed near Denman Ave and Second Street. The officer began following the vehicle and as it approached the intersection of North Railroad and Canyon Drive, it failed to stop at the stop sign. It then entered the Village Apartments, located at 200 North Canyon. The vehicle backed out of the apartment building and led officers on a pursuit. Due to the high rate of speed, officers ended the pursuit for safety reasons.

Officers were able to locate the registered owner of the vehicle and after investigation it was determined 23-year-old Robert James Schottenbauer was the driver of the vehicle.
He was arrested for: Felony Flight, Hit and Run, Driving on a Suspended License, Criminal Damage, Reckless Driving and seven counts of Endangerment for the individuals located in adjacent apartments in the apartment complex.

Schottenbauer was booked into jail at the Cochise County Sheriff's Department.
