Sheriff Dever: Ash Canyon residents could be home in 24 hours

SIERRA VISTA - It was a packed house at the Monument fire update in Sierra Vista. Sheriff Dever told Ash Canyon residents they may be able to go home within the next 24 hours. Dever also added that when mandatory evacuations are ordered, people should leave right away.

The Fire Operations Chief told the crowd they are gearing up for a fierce day tomorrow. Winds are expected to be 40 miles per hour. He said they are formulating a long term plan to fight this fire.

Kim Hall with the Coronado National Memorial says the entire memorial area has been burned. But she says the area will grow back after the flames are gone.
