TUCSON - Shawna Forde was found guilty today of two counts of murder in a deadly home invasion in Arivaca in May 2009 where 9-year old Brisenia Flores and her father Raul were shot to death.
The child's mother Gina Gonzalez also was shot, but she survived.
Since it began on January 25, the trial has had its share of courtroom drama - a supporter of Shawna Forde disrupted the trial when she appeared in the courtroom disguised on January 27, in spite of a judge's order barring her from the proceedings.
Laine Lawless, who is affiliated with a website titled "Justice for Shawna Forde," was subpoenaed as a witness in Forde's trial. She claimed when she was also removed form the courtroom, that she was told she would not be a witness.
After being recognized by court personnel, Judge Leonardo barred Lawless from the courthouse until she is called as a witness. She was then escorted out of the courtroom.
Another surprise - when Forde appeared in the courtroom on the first day of the trial, she had brown hair, instead of blonde - her hair color when she was arrested.
Forde is one of three people charged in the deadly home invasion.
