TUCSON - A U.S. citizen who was deported by Mexico was shortly arrested at the border by Deputy U.S. Marshals.
Michael Anthony Martinez, 29, was convicted in 2000 of attempted child molestation and attempted sexual conduct with a minor. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
After his release in 2011, Martinez fled to Utah, violating the terms of his parole. He was later arrested and moved to Arizona where he served an additional 14 months for not registering as a sex offender, a release from the U.S. Marshals Service detailed.
Martinez began his supervised release term in 2012 and was required to register as a sex offender. Marshals say it was during this time when he allegedly had contact with a minor.A warrant was issued for his arrest and it was believed he had fled to Puerto Penasco.
Martinez was eventually arrested in Puerto Penasco and then deported to the Lukeville, AZ port of entry.
