TUCSON - First severe thunderstorms of the monsoon roll through Tucson.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning went into effect around 2:45pm this afternoon for the Tucson metro area bringing strong winds, heavy rain and hail.
The Severe Thunderstorms Warning was allowed to expire by 3:15pm but not before dropping 0.29" of rain at TIA and recording 40mph wind gusts.
One day into the monsoon and adding to our rainfall totals for the first time since May 9 when we only saw a trace of rain. Thunderstorm activity will continue across the region through the late afternoon and early evening hours, continuing to add to our rain totals.
Stay safe on the roadways watch for strong wind gusts, heavy rain and localized flooding. If you do run into severe weather pull aside and let it pass.
