Sierra Vista - In March, News 4 introduced you to Marty Robison in Sierra Vista. She suffered from absent seizures.
Marty was the one who had Lil Bit, the cat who alerted her three hours in advance of an oncoming seizure.
On March 24th, a week after that story aired on News 4, Marty Robison passed away from an illness not related to the seizure disorder.
Now Lil Bit needs a new home.
"Because he's my life. I'm stuck in the bed otherwise," said Marty in the original story.
"She was truly blessed when she got Lil Bit."
Carmen Poirier owns Furbabies Pet Bakery in Sierra Vista. Marty was her friend.
"She was like an iron butterfly. That's what I used to call her. She was foot lose and fancy free. She liked to enjoy the world. She went bike riding. Motorcycles. But she always had her Lil Bit."
Carmen is fostering Lil Bit, for a little while, until a permanent home is found.
And she has stepped up helping to raise money for Lil Bit's treatment. He has heart disease and an over active thyroid.
"He's taking a half pill everyday which is about 50 cents a day. He's eating good," Carmen tells us.
She hopes to have the radio iodine treatment done soon, and hopes someone special will provide Lil Bit a home.
"It's gonna have to be someone who knows his medical problems. Going to have to take him to the vet to have him checked," Carmen explains.
"It's just a sad twist in his life. You know. And we know he's treatable. We know he don't have cancer."
The veterinarian says Lil Bit can have a long healthy life after treatment.
Carmen encourages someone to consider adopting him, "and whoever gets him will truly be blessed. Because he really is a special kitty. He knows your emotions. It's just amazing."
Just the way Lil Bit blessed Marty Robison for so many years.
Lil Bit will be treated here in Tucson at Southern Arizona Veterinary Speciality and Emergency. http://www.southernazvets.com/. If you would like to make a donation call for more information (520) 888-3177.
