TUCSON - A Tucson man is arrested in connection to a robbery at a U.S. Bank inside a Safeway on Broadway Boulevard last month.
The Tucson Police Department believe 25-year-old Sharod Austin is also linked to four other robbery incidents during the past month.
Last week, a man approached a teller at Compass Bank inside an Albertson's on 22nd Street and demanded money. After the suspect took off with the money, police caught up with him in the 5300 block of East Baker Street. After officers arrested Austin, he tried to run, but didn't get far.
Detectives from TPD's Robbery Unit investigated the scene, and determined the same person was responsible for both robberies cases and possibly more.
The Robbery Unit also determined the suspect is responsible for an armed robbery at a Dairy Queen on 22nd Street and an attempted robbery at Coffee Exchange on Campbell Avenue.
They believe Austin is also linked to an armed robbery at a Wienerschnitzel on Broadway Boulevard.
Austin faces two counts of robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and one count of escape in the second degree.
All charges are felony offenses.
