TUCSON - As older adults age, staying active in their communities through volunteerism is not only a good idea, but can add years to their lives. Research has shown the more active they stay, the more enriched and healthy their own lives will be.
Today on News 4 Tucson at 4 p.m., Gale Morgan from Spendido Tucson stopped by the studios to discuss opportunities for older adults to stay active in their communities.
As their own adult-aged children no longer rely on their parents for day-to-day needs, staying connected through volunteerism and philanthropy can give older adults a sense of purpose and usefulness. Whether gardening, tutoring, or preparing care packages for soldiers, giving back to the community provides great payback for active older adults.
