SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Sedona are going door to door asking residents in low-lying areas to voluntarily evacuate ahead of expected flooding in Oak Creek.
Forecasters say the creek will crest at nearly 20 feet around midnight Thursday, potentially sending two to four feet of water through local businesses and mobile homes downstream. Swift water rescue crews were on standby.
Forecasters say moderate to heavy rain will continue to fall in the area through Friday, part of a severe winter storm sweeping through Arizona.
Sandbags were made available to residents.
