TUCSON - Parts of Rillito River Park are closed, and Pima County encourages bicyclists and pedestrians to use caution, as debris and downed tree limbs still litter the area.
Severe storms have caused damage on The Loop, the 55-miles of paths that will link metropolitan Tucson, Mara and Oro Valley, including the Rillito River Park.
The Rillito River Park underpass at the railroad crossing, near Interstate 10, is currently close. There are also debris and damage on the paths in the area between North Campbell Avenue and North La Canada Drive, due to very heavy flow in the area.
County staff are working to clear the river parks, but this conditions may reoccur today, as the National Weather Service expects heavy rains today and Tuesday.
The Loop is a linked passage of 55-miles of car-free paths that will link Rillito River Park, Santa Cruz River Park, Julian Wash Greenway, Harrison Greenway and Pantano River Park when complete.
