TUCSON - The search is on for an arsonist who set several fires in grassland in the Dragoon area overnight Friday, May 4.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Department says the fires were all in the Dragoon Road, Johnson Road, Sybil Road and CR Ranch Road areas, between 10pm Friday and 5am Saturday.

Crews from Sunsites-Pearce Fire Department, Mescal Fire Department, Huachuca City Fire Department, Willcox Rural Fire and Benson Fire all responsed along with personnel from Arizona State Land.

Investigators say the first fire covered about 25 acres, with the last one spreading to about three acres.

They also say there were several eyewitnesses to the initial fires and they're following up on several leads.

The Cochise County Sheriff's Department anticipates having a suspect identified soon.
