TUCSON - Like the past few days, the heat will take precedence over Monsoon storms today.
According to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish, high pressure resides in a favorable position near the Four Corners. However, a pocket of dry air continues to move in from the east, keeping storm chances slim & helping bring record temps.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible after 12 PM, lingering through the evening. Because of the dry conditions at the ground, a few storms may be capable of gusty winds & produce areas of blowing dust.
Tucson's forecast high today calls for 105 degrees, which is just one degree shy of tying the record of 106 set back in 2002.
Stay with News 4 Tucson & KVOA.com for the latest weather updates throughout the afternoon. Jeff will have a complete look at your Monsoon forecast & the latest on Hurricane Irene tonight at 5:30 and 10.
