San Luis Port slammed with heroin and meth seizures

SAN LUIS - Customs and Border Protection agents intercepted approximately $640,000 worth of both heroin and methamphetamine at the Port of San Luis over the weekend.

A 17-year-old San Luis resident tried to walk across the border with nearly 3 lbs. of heroin taped around his thighs Friday, CBP said. The heroin has a value of approximately $36,000.

Later that day, a 22-year-old Wellton, AZ resident attempted to enter the U.S. with nearly 14 lbs. of heroin, which has a value of nearly $185,000. A CBP K-9 smelled the drugs inside the battery of a Nissan truck the woman was driving, officials said.

On Saturday, agents found 26 packages of methamphetamine in an Oldsmobile driven by a Mexican woman who currently lives in Winterhaven, Calif., according to CBP. The meth weighed more than 27 pounds and an estimated value of more than $421,000.
