TUCSON - The 28th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is less than 3 weeks away and The Salvation Army still does not have any turkeys or pie.
The Salvation Army is in need of 500 turkeys and 500 pies for their Community Dinner. The Community Thanksgiving Dinner serves impoverished and displaced families; last year, the dinner served over 3,400 meals, according to a news release from the organization.
Ashley Lueders, Salvation Army Public Relations Director, stated in a Salvation Army News Release: "We understand things are harder for everyone right now but we are hopeful that the generosity and compassion of our donors will see us through the season."
Food Donations will be accepted at the Salvation Army at 1001 N. Richey and The Hospitality House, 1021 N. 11th Ave; monetary donations can be mailed in to 1001 N. Richey Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716.
Additional items needed for the 28th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner are:
• Eggs (30 DZ)
• Dinner Rolls -Heat & Serve (140 DZ)
• Flour (100 lbs.)
• Turkey Stuffing / Corn Bread Mix (8 cases)
• White Bread Loaves (50 - 1.5 lb loaves)
• Brown Sugar (50 lbs)
• Cranberry Sauce ( 6 cases - #10 Cans)
• Whipped Cream or Topping (3 cases)
• Instant Potatoes (7 cases- #10 Can)
• Gallons of Milk (30 G)
• Bananas and Oranges
• Loaves of White Sandwich Bread & Sliced Meats
• Hand Sanitizers (Travel Size)
The 28th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be on November 22, 2012 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1145 E. Fort Lowell Rd., according to the release.
