TUCSON - The white "Remember 1.8.11" bracelets are still being sold by students at Ironwood Ridge High School, but not for much longer - the student government plans to end their sales on March 26.

To date, $20,000 has been donated to the Tucson Victim's Fund from sales of the bracelets, and another $9,500 will be added to what is raised between now and the end of the sales.

Samantha Burgin, the teacher who helped organize the students' efforts, reports that they still have about 10,000 bracelets, and they are hoping to sell them by the end of the month.

"I am extremely proud of what my students have done," Burgin says. "At the beginning we thought we may sell them at school and never imagined the impact it would have on the community. This is something they will never forget, it is the legacy of the Ironwood Ridge Student Government Class 2010-2011."

A handful of bracelets are still available at the KVOA Studios, 209 W. Elm, but our supplies are dwindling. Stop by form 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday to pick one up.
