TUCSON - Part of Golden Gate Road in Saguaro National Park West is closed after being damaged in a monsoon storm.
The July 29 storm damaged the road, north of the Sendero-Esperanza Trailhead, beyond repair. Crews were able to quickly grade and repair less damaged areas, including Hohokam Road and Golden Gate Road west of Sendero-Esperanza Trailhead.
The northern section of the Golden Gate Road from Sendero-Esperanza trailhead is approximately 2.5 miles in length and connects the Bajada Loop Drive to Picture Rocks Road.
The date for re-opening the road is expected within the next four weeks.
