PHOENIX (AP) - A Sacaton man convicted in the vehicular homicide of a bicyclist on the Gila River Indian Reservation has been sentenced to 27 years in prison.

Prosecutors say 44-year-old Webster Norris III was found guilty by a federal jury of second-degree murder and aggravated assault in June and was sentenced Thursday.

He was accused of getting behind the wheel after drinking at least a 12-pack of beer and running over a 60-year-old Gilbert man on Sept. 20, 2008.

Authorities say Norris had been drinking with a friend for most of the day and was racing down a roadway on the reservation at a reported 90 mph when he struck the victim, who was cross-training for a marathon.

Norris wasn't located for two days and told authorities he had no memory of the previous 48 hours due to his extreme intoxication.

Prosecutors say Norris had previously been convicted of aggravated DUI in Arizona and had two DUI arrests on the reservation in 2007.
