Round 3: Scattered storms set to return today

TUCSON - One more active Monsoon day before a break.

Ample moisture along with plenty of sunshine leads to scattered thunderstorms today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The best chance of storms will be east of a Casa Grande-Three Points-Sasabe line with storms into metro Tucson late this afternoon.

Flooding is a big concern with today's storms, since many places across Tucson saw 1-2" rain the past 48 hours. With another 0.50-1.00" rain in the forecast today, the Monsoon Prediction Index is at a 7 out of 10. Storms should taper off after midnight.

Drier air begins to work in from the west starting tomorrow, bringing a downturn in storm development. Isolated storms are possible Tuesday, with storms staying in the mountains Wednesday. A daily round of isolated storms returns Thursday through the upcoming weekend.
