Reward offered in brutal killing of Javelina

BISBEE, Ariz. - The Arizona Game and Fish Department Operation Game Thief program is offering a reward of up to $500 for information leading to an arrest in connection with a javelina illegally shot in the head Dec. 25 then possibly dragged down a residential street south of Bisbee.

The javelina was found dead with an orange extension cord wrapped thru its mouth east of Naco Highway on the corner of Della and Bowers streets.

"Poachers are not hunters. They are criminals stealing wildlife from the citizens of Arizona," said acting Regional Supervisor Gabriel Paz of Game and Fish in Tucson. "The possibility that the carcass was dragged along a residential street on Christmas Day is especially troubling to us."

Persons with information about the case may contact Operation Game Thief at 1-800-352-0700, anonymously if need be, and reference OGT#12-003156. Calls are taken 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Information may also be provided on-line at http://www.azgfd.gov/ogt_form.shtml
