TUCSON - Cockroaches in the dishwaster - not what you want from your favorite Chinese buffet. News 4 Tucson's Brandon Gunnoe shows us where the Pima County Health Department violations are in this week's Restaurant Report Card.
New China on West Ina received 9 critical violations. According to the health department: live and dead cockroaches were in the dish area, and roaches were even inside the dish machine.
Holes in the walls were found throughout the facility. An employee was seen rinsing off utensils at the three-compartment sink and without washing his hands went to cook and prepare for food. There was a water line leaking under the buffet line. Several foods were being stored at an unsafe temperature. New China on West Ina is now operating on a provisional license.
Wienerschnitzel on south Alvernon road received three critical violations. The can opener had a black gummy build-up on the puncture tip. Three pans of hot dogs were being stored without a date mark, and other hot dogs were being held at an unsafe temperature. Wienerschnitzel received a "Needs Improvement" rating, then passed its re-inspection the very next day.
Mama Louisa's Italian Restaurant on South Craycroft Road, Papa Loco's on South Rita Road, and Rita Ranch Market and Pizzeria on South Rita Road all received an excellent rating.
