Residents on edge after seven burglaries at apartment complex

TUCSON - People living at the Canyon Oaks Apartment Complex say they are concerned after police say there have been seven burglaries within the last three weeks.

Tucson police say at the complex TV's, Jewelry, and couches all were stolen. Police say the thief would jump onto the front balcony of the apartments and then jimmy open the door, and pick the locks.

One of those victims is "Joe". He says he got hit not once, but twice while he was sleeping. He says the thief stole several items including his 32 inch flat screen TV.

"I feel violated. Now you wonder if he's coming back, he came twice already, and I am wondering if he's coming back again," says "Joe".

"Anne" says her neighbor was the victim of a burglary.

"They stole her couch. They also stole her TV, her printer, money, and they just really trashed the place. Her apartment is right by beside me so I was in a panic when I heard that," says Anne.

Anne says she now has her daughter stay with her for extra safety. Police say they have linked 22-year old Joseph Lichman, who lives at the apartment complex, to three of the burglaries. Police say he may be involved in more.

"They are still investigating the burglaries, and they say that all seven are possibly related to same individual," says Sgt. Pete Dugan.

Police say they have recovered some of the stolen items that were found in Lichman's apartment.
People living this complex say they want more done to make it safer.

"I think they should have better security and more security," says Joe.

We spoke with Canyon Oaks Management. They say they take security serious. They say they already have a service called Courtesy Patrol that drives around and monitors the complex. Management says they will look into other security measures as well.
