Samantha Ptashkin joined News 4 Tucson in February 2012, but she's no stranger to Tucson. She previously worked for KMSB-TV as a reporter and weekend anchor where she covered everything from the mass shooting on January 8, 2011 to the devastating Monument Fire in Cochise County.

Before moving to Arizona, Samantha worked as a reporter and noon show anchor at WREX-TV in Rockford, IL. Born and raised in a suburb of Chicago, she graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. While there, she got her first taste of reporting as an intern at KVRR-TV in Fargo, ND.
