TUCSON - Registration has opened for the Tucson Police Department's 2012 Summer Youth Swim Program; it is expected to help nearly 4,800 young Tucsonans gain the knowledge and skills to be safe in and around swimming pools.
The program teaches essential skills and promotes health and fitness, while providing a positive environment for youth to spend part of their summer, states a release from Tucson Police Department.
The program is being funded in part by RICO funds: proceeds seized by law enforcement from criminal activity associated with illegal drugs.
Swim lessons will be held at 16 Tucson-area pools from June 4 to June 29 and July 3 to July 27.
