PHOENIX (AP) - After voting to raise tuition and other fees at the three state universities this week, the Arizona Board of Regents told school presidents to cut the pay of their employees by 2.75 percent.
How those cuts will be implemented, either through wage decreases, furloughs, layoffs or a combination of all three, has not been made clear.
Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University has 30 days to present its plan to the regents.
The cuts will take effect May 29.
The order follows the regents' approval Thursday of hikes in tuition and mandatory fees of between 15.7 and 20.4 percent during the next school year.
