TUCSON - The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for eastern Pima, southeast Pinal, Santa Cruz, Cochise, Graham and Greenlee Counties today from 10 AM until 7 PM.
Gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels add up to a high fire danger, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. A cold front cranks up the winds as high as 40 MPH in Metro Tucson during the afternoon hours. Gusts to 50 MPH and localized blowing dust is possible in eastern Cochise County, where a Wind Advisory is in effect from 10 AM until 7 PM.
Wind speeds and temperatures drop tomorrow, as the cold front moves east. Highs range from the upper 80's this afternoon to the mid 70's Wednesday. The 80's return by Friday with 90's in the forecast for Mother's Day.
