TUCSON - Mother Nature looks to spin another record high today.
High pressure anchored over Arizona & New Mexico will have temps reaching the record books today, according to News 4 Meteorologist Jeff Beamish. The forecast high for Tucson today is 97 degrees, besting the record high temp of 96 for this date. Expect mostly sunny skies this afternoon, with cloud build-ups bringing a few showers in the Chiricahua Mountains. Gusty winds up to 20 MPH may develop after 12 PM across southern Arizona.
Warm weather wanes away the remainder of the week, as a strong cold front approaches from California. This front moves in Thursday, bringing a chance of isolated showers and much cooler temps. Highs Thursday will be in the 70's, 20-25 degrees cooler than today.
The cool-down is short lived, as the 90's return for the second half of the weekend.
